It can feel overwhelming at times to try to maintain a healthy lifestyle. It doesn’t always easily fit in with the reality of your day-to-day life. It can be hard going to work, look after and support your family, maintain your home, eat well, complete exercise, spend quality time with friends and loved ones.
When you think about healthy living, you can incorporate all of these elements, if you choose to and that is what you want, however, the concept of a healthy lifestyle does not have to be defined by completing these actions. Your wellness doesn’t necessarily have to revolve around these big displays. So much of healthy living is actually made up of the small things that when done consistently over time, add up to give those big results you are wanting.
Here are some small simple wellness tips that can be seamlessly added to your daily routine.
Hydrate First Thing
When you wake in the morning have a glass of water before grabbing the coffee. By having this before any other food or drink you are topping up your body’s water levels and hydrating yourself. This will get your digestive system awake, speed up your metabolism, give your skin a healthy glow and boost your energy levels.
Sleep Is Vital
You need to be aiming for between 7-9 hours of good quality rest and sleep per night. It is extremely important that the rest and sleep you are getting daily is of good quality. Sleep is vital to your overall wellness and you need to be making a conscious effort to allow your body and mind to get this time.
Eat Well
What you eat is a core component when it comes to being healthy. Of course, you want to ensure that you are eating a balanced diet to ensure your body is getting the core basics it needs to function well, allow there are other ingredients that can be added into your diet such as ginger, umami sauce, and chia seeds.
Smile More
A simple smile makes so much difference to your mental and physical health. When you smile, your brain releases these signals throughout your body which help reduce and keep stress aware.
Practice Gratitude
Feeling gratitude for what is going well in your own life has an incredible impact on how you feel about yourself and view the world around you. By practicing gratitude each day, is a positive way to focus on all of the good and can bring about mental and physical gains.
A Little Is Better Than Nothing
It is important to remind yourself that something is better than nothing. This means that if you are at a point where daily living is restricting the ideal amount of time you want to spend exercising, it is better to do 5 minutes than nothing, even if you end up talking a little walk up your street. If you are unable to spend half an hour for self-care, 5 minutes of doing of ‘you time’ is better than not doing it all.
