Sausage! It’s perfect for breakfast, for dinner and everything in between! We love sausage when it’s roasted with cabbage and of course, it’s amazing with all the fresh eggs we get from our chickens. Making homemade venison sausage seemed like a logical step to take when we started homesteading. It’s just as delicious as the venison jerky we shared earlier but does require a bit more work. Trust me, it’s worth it! *Note – This recipe is for non-smoked sausage although we add some smoke flavor they do have to be cooked thoroughly before eating. Jerky is one of those snacks that everyone in the family loves. It also happens to be pretty expensive and a lot of people feel that it is either too complicated or too time-consuming to make on their own. While it can be time-consuming I’m happy to say that it is far from complicated! The jerky that we have been making lately is venison jerky but if you don’t have access to deer meat you can substitute beef with similar results. Homemade venison jerky is delicious however and if you can get your hands on some deer I highly suggest giving it a try! ThisRead More →

Everyone loves milkshakes! And, St’ Patrick’s Day is the realm of the Shamrock shake. If you love mint and ice cream then this is something you might look forward to year after year. Thankfully I have found Keto to be one of the most versatile when it comes to reworking old treats into newer healthier versions. These keto shamrock shakes are no exception! Before we started following a keto lifestyle and way of eating our family was a big fan of sandwiches. A lot of families are – and with good reason! Sandwiches are easy and cheap to make, highly customizable so even your pickiest kid is happy and there are perfect options for just about every season! Of course, once we ditched the bread sandwiches became a little harder. There are low carb wraps of course, like the ones we use in our keto grilled cheese and mixes like Carbquick can be useful when you want to make a quick hamburger bun. But, when you want somethingRead More →

Starting a new way of eating can come with a bit of a learning curve. Not only are there a lot of options when it comes to healthy eating but some ways of eating have different versions, such as Keto. When two ways of eating share some similarities is can be difficult for those who are new to the scene to figure them out. In the case of Keto vs Carnivore, there are just s many differences as similarities but some people who practice keto move into a carnivore diet as they find a zero carb lifestyle more suitable. As always the diet that someoneRead More →

Resisting chocolate this time of year can be challenging. Valentine’s day is like the spring version of Halloween with boxes of candy lining the store shelves. Generally when you sit back and evaluate how much progress you have made and how much better you feel you find that it IS worth it…but you still miss the treats! Thankfully I have found that this way of eating makes it really easy to convertRead More →

keto raspberry balsamic beef

I’m always trying to find new keto dinner options for the family and with Valentine’s day coming up I was racking my brain for something extra special! Raspberry and balsamic is a great combination and when paired with stew beef in a Crockpot makes for a tender and flavorful meal that everyone will enjoy. We served our beef over cauliflower rice with a side of asparagus but I expect that any vegetable sides would be delicious. I also made a Keto Creme Brulee for dessert! Yum!
