It’s been a while since I’ve done a Dollar Store craft and I have to admit that I missed them dearly. With Halloween (arguably my favorite holiday) coming up I decided to mask up and brave the local DollarTree to see what I could find! The hardest part of the trip was settling for what type of craft to do but in the end, I settled for this fun dollar store Crystal Ball project! I think they will go perfectly with the potion jars we made a couple of years ago. Since I never know exactly how a craft is going to turn out IRead More →

With the kids home from school for the foreseeable future and the pressure on to keep them busy, I’ve been on the lookout for fun activities that we can do together. Watching the birds in the backyard has always been enjoyable in the mornings so when I saw this DIY bird feeder kit on amazon I knew it would be the perfect little project for me and kids. Next up perhaps we’ll try a birdhouse! The kit we picked came with everything you need to build the feeder (minus the hammer and any paints) and was relatively simple in its design. st patricks day candle

I have to admit that I have been wanting to melt down some crayons and attempt to make my own candle for quite a while now! St. Patricks day seemed like the perfect opportunity to give this a try! With fun themes like shamrocks, golden coins and rainbows there are plenty of opportunities to personalize this St Patricks day candle project to fit any decorating theme you might have. While our family doesn’t celebrate St. Patricks day very much I still find it fun to do a few small things to celebrate. These smaller holidays are a great way to break up the months andRead More →

Dollar Store Valentine's Day Mirror Craft

Valentine’s day is a holiday that a lot of people don’t go out of their way to decorate for but I have always thought that a holiday celebrating love is worth the effort. Needle Felting

I always love finding new craft projects to try out! Everything from creating a one of a kind light switch to using up some old fabric to make a kitchen rug is fair game! I ran across the art of needle felting while browsing Pinterest Which is an excellent resource for finding inspiration when you’re looking for a new hobby to try out. I have to say that I was immediately attracted to the variety of things I saw people making with needle felting. It seems that with a bit of patience you can make anything you can think of. Not only that, but theRead More →

While you can buy a large variety of Christmas stockings in the store sometimes it’s nice to add a more personalized touch. This year while pulling out the Christmas stockings I realized that Connors was getting a bit beat up and since this is Echo’s first Christmas she didn’t have a stocking at all! Obviously this was a situation that needed to be fixed. It’s not like I needed much of an excuse for a fun artsy project. This DIY personalized Christmas stocking project was a bit of an experiment with Dollar Store items and I’m really happy with the way they turned out! InRead More →

DIY Halloween Potion Jars #Halloween #DIY #halloweendecor #fall #falldecor #spooky

It’s the little items that always make holiday decorations really stand out! Halloween is no exception to this and while I love my larger pieces, like our spider vase and glow in the dark wreath I can’t help but adore these hidden fun editions. These DIY Halloween potion jars are just squicky enough to make the kids giggle and spooky enough to fit in with our skeleton birdcage! This is a simple craft with supplies that come mostly from the Dollar Tree. Although it does use a glue gun I think this is a suitable craft for children with a little bit of help! DIYRead More →

I have always admired dreamcatchers. They are beautiful works of art that can be highly personalized with beads, feathers, and colors. But, I have never made one before! It’s a project that I always thought would be pretty complicated. However, since I have started making it a priority to try something new every month I have found that I’m more willing to give different DIY projects a try! Most of the time I find that they’re not as difficult as I first thought and creating a dreamcatcher is no exception! Learn Something New With Kristin Feature 15 – Creating a Dreamcatcher. DIY soap making recipe box from Simply Earth

There is a pretty good chance that you have run across handmade DIY soaps before. We have seen them pretty frequently at craft shows and small gift shops. I even recall seeing them in many Christmas giftboxes growing up. The way they smelled and the cute little molded shapes they came in were always fun to explore. I mean who can forget the tiny rose-shaped soaps in your grandma’s bathroom? Making homemade soap seemed like the perfect addition to our try something new series so I jumped at the chance when Simply Earth offered to send me one of their recipe boxes and give it aRead More →
