While you can buy a large variety of Christmas stockings in the store sometimes it’s nice to add a more personalized touch. This year while pulling out the Christmas stockings I realized that Connors was getting a bit beat up and since this is Echo’s first Christmas she didn’t have a stocking at all! Obviously this was a situation that needed to be fixed. It’s not like I needed much of an excuse for a fun artsy project. This DIY personalized Christmas stocking project was a bit of an experiment with Dollar Store items and I’m really happy with the way they turned out! InRead More →

The Dollar Tree has been adding a lot of great wooden forms to their stock lately. Basic wooden forms and cutouts are great for a variety of projects, like our Haunted house centerpiece from Halloween and when I saw some snowflake cutouts with their Christmas decor I knew I had to use them! Taking advantage of cheap craft supplies like this means you can create some truly spectacular and unique seasonal decor for a really reasonable price! Even better, it allows you to try this like this dollar store pour painting experiment without stressing about how it will turn out. If it goes wrong you’reRead More →

DIY Dollar Tree Christmas Wreath

It’s no secret that I love my dollar store projects and Christmas is one of my favorite times to indulge. This year one of the projects I wanted to try was a new Christmas Wreath. I have made dollar store wreaths for Halloween and Spring in the past but a Christmas wreath just kept falling through the cracks. Clearly it was time to fix that! I have always loved the Christmas bulb wreaths that others have made and wanted to incorporate that into my design along with some Christmas florals and Christmas tulle. This project is very simple and would be appropriate for even youngRead More →

dealing with stress during the holiday season

A snow blower or otherwise known as a snow thrower is an equipment used to extract snow from a specific area that impedes the area’s purpose. Some examples are sidewalks, driveways, railroad tracks or roadways. The term snow blower can be deceptive to buyers; you might actually think that this machine will blow off air but in reality, it functions by use of an auger, collecting the debris and directing it to the discharge chute which will then discard it to the side. You can watch a video about it here. Or, to make it extra simple, snow will be released to the side.  SnowblowersRead More →

DIY Halloween Potion Jars #Halloween #DIY #halloweendecor #fall #falldecor #spooky

It’s the little items that always make holiday decorations really stand out! Halloween is no exception to this and while I love my larger pieces, like our spider vase and glow in the dark wreath I can’t help but adore these hidden fun editions. These DIY Halloween potion jars are just squicky enough to make the kids giggle and spooky enough to fit in with our skeleton birdcage! This is a simple craft with supplies that come mostly from the Dollar Tree. Although it does use a glue gun I think this is a suitable craft for children with a little bit of help! DIYRead More →

Decorating for Halloween is one of my favorite activities in the fall! Halloween is such a fun holiday, with so many decorating options (Fall, Spooky, Cutesy) that it’s almost impossible to get through all of them! There is a theme or an idea that will fit every family and their decorating ideas. This haunted house centerpiece from the dollar tree is no exception! If your family is looking for something spooky then you might switch out the cute felt stickers with tiny skeletons or spiders. You might create some foam tombstones instead of using fall trees and your house might be decorated a bit moreRead More →

DIY soap making recipe box from Simply Earth

There is a pretty good chance that you have run across handmade DIY soaps before. We have seen them pretty frequently at craft shows and small gift shops. I even recall seeing them in many Christmas giftboxes growing up. The way they smelled and the cute little molded shapes they came in were always fun to explore. I mean who can forget the tiny rose-shaped soaps in your grandma’s bathroom? Making homemade soap seemed like the perfect addition to our try something new series so I jumped at the chance when Simply Earth offered to send me one of their recipe boxes and give it aRead More →
