Some of the things to you my want to think about when it comes to working from home might include:

Set Up A Work Space

Whether you’ve occasionally worked from home in the past or are completely new to this environment, it’s essential for you to set up a dedicated workspace. If possible you should try to avoid just sitting down with a laptop but if you can’t set up with a desk, this will work.

If you don’t have access to a home office you might consider using things like room dividers and creative furniture placement that can help you divide a room and enable you to have a space to use for your work. The idea is to set boundaries between your work life and leisure life.

Setting up a comfortable work environment can go a long way in making sure that you remain productive and continue to meet your deadlines while working from home.

Invest In The Right Equipment

You may find that your employer is able to provide you with some of the equipment that you need including a computer, desk, and phone. But, you might need to source some of this equipment yourself. Don’t forget that these items can be a tax write off. Regardless of how you get your equipment, you need to make sure you have the best tools to set you up for success.

It’s also important to think about your connectivity to your workplace. Think about your internet speed and make sure you have sufficient speeds to process your work properly. You’ll also need to think about having good phone signal for making important calls and making sure you know how to map a network drive. Set Office Hours

Working from home can give you a lot of flexibility, but this also means that you can get into bad habits extremely quickly. Having the ability to self regulate your hours can lead to problems with productivity and your livelihood. One of the biggest problems with working from home is the fact that there is a certain level of distraction that comes with it.

While working in an office environment, you have a dedicated workspace, a boss and coworkers and not much else that you need to focus on. When working from home you are surrounded by an array of different home comforts like the tv, Video games, a kitchen full of food, garden space and don’t forget your nice cosy bed.

These are just three of the areas you should think about preparing for when working from home, is there any other preparations that you have done? Please share them in the comments below
