Making fathers day special can be a bit of a challenge in our house! Although we don’t do anything expensive for Mother’s or Father’s day we do try to make it special. Since Mother’s Day falls during the school year it’s pretty simple. The kids always make things for me at school and I take the night off cooking while my husband BBQ’s. But, Father’s day falls when my kids are out of school, so he misses out on the cute things they would be bringing home. Last year the school held a Donuts with Dad day right before school let out. But this year,Read More →

A letter to my mother on mothers day

The arrival of May means that Mother’s Day is swiftly approaching. Since the birth of my own children, I have been blessed to take part in Mother’s Day from the other side of the fence. As a mother, instead of a daughter. But it’s as a daughter that I’m writing this post. When I was little I loved my mother, she was my safety and my comfort. But, it wasn’t until I was older, after I had children of my own that I truly realized the depths of her love and sacrifices. Being a mother is hard. There are days when there is nothing butRead More →

I have never had a subscription box before. I certainly wanted to try one. But I felt guilty spending money on myself when I had a family to take care of. If you can relate to that feeling then I hope you also realize just how wrong that is. It took me a long time to learn this – but spending money on yourself isn’t wrong. Feeling good about yourself, doing something just for you is okay. When we feel good about ourselves we become better people. We are happier, kinder and more patient. This year I am trying very hard to work on howRead More →

I recently did a post telling everyone that they should learn to love themselves (Love Yourself – Being single on Valentines Day). Now I am not single and quite happily married but the advice spoke to me. How often do I spend time making sure my kids and husband are happy? How often do I spend time making myself happy? Sometimes that scale is a bit one-sided. I figured it was time to invest in a bit of self-love – so I signed up for FabFitFun. What is FabFitFun? FabFitFun is a seasonal subscription box. Boxes are mailed out four times a year (Spring, Summer,Read More →

Starting Keto can seem like a difficult task but it doesn’t have to be! For those of you who have been following along on the blog then you know I started Keto several months ago. Starting keto has made such a great impact on my life that I want to share it with everyone. This way of eating has brought so much energy and joy back into my life that I could never go back to living the way I was before. As of this article, I have officially lost 41Ibs and dropped several sizes in clothing. While the weight loss is certainly nice thatRead More →

Valentine’s Day is a wonderful holiday. Who doesn’t love a celebration of love and happiness? The truth is there are quite a few people out there who find Valentine’s Day painful. There is a such a drive to make Valentine’s day about couples that single people or those who have lost their loved ones can often feel left out in the cold. Being single on Valentine’s Day can be hard. But it shouldn’t be. In fact, in many cultures celebrations connected to Saint Valentine or St Valentine’s day were far more connected to the advent of spring than to romantic love. Still, the fact remains,Read More →

Bullet journaling has been all the rage lately and with good reason! In a world of increasing technology, some of us long for the old school nostalgia of a book planner or diary. Book planners and Diaries, however, have their pitfalls. Diaries take a lot of time to keep up and while they are useful for collecting thoughts they don’t really help us navigate our daily lives. Planners never seem to have everything we need or you end up with wasted space in sections you don’t use. Bullet journaling solves both of these problems. With a bullet journal you can spend as much or as littleRead More →

I want to send a huge thank you to CaliffCreations for this nomination! The Liebster Award is a wonderful sentiment designed to recognize new bloggers with up and coming websites. A few months ago I made a commitment to being healthy. It started with adapting my diet to the life-changing Keto way of eating and evolved into hiking and eventually running. At the start of 2018, I decided I wanted to do more than jog about the block. I wanted to run a 5k. Running a 5k is a huge goal for me.  First of all, I have exercise-induced asthma – not the greatest start to this project! Secondly, even when my asthma wasn’t bothering me I had not run in close to 15 years unless you count chasing after kids.  I was a total couchRead More →

A few months ago my husband called me up with some information I was skeptical about at first. Like many people, he had been wanting to lose some weight for a very long time. We had tried prescription medication (Phentermine) from the Dr, portion control, attempting to just eat healthier, Slim Fast and other programs in the past and nothing worked. If we did lose weight it would come right back. Keto changed everything. This post may contain affiliate links.
